Company Overview:

Our Group of Companies (Wiseworth Canada Industries (1996) Ltd and AGL On-site Solutions Inc.)  is seeking a skilled and experienced Controller to lead and manage our accounting and financial operations. This role will support both companies, ensuring consistent financial reporting, compliance, and strategic financial oversight.

Job Summary:

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and auditing processes, with an emphasis on team leadership and cross-departmental collaboration. This position requires hands-on management and strategic oversight to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial data. The Controller will lead the accounting teams for both companies, developing talent, fostering collaboration, and ensuring effective execution of all financial activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare, analyze, and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for both companies.

  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models; monitor variances and suggest corrective actions.

  • Accounting Operations: Ensure appropriate financial data is available to make effective, timely decisions. Develop, manage and monitor timely and accurate budgets, reports and operating plans, including but not limited to:

    • Margin analysis by product/service mix, by month – including estimates of costs of sales, and resulting Gross Profits recognized on sales.

    • Departmental operating plans – with specific objectives to be accomplished for the year.

    • Annual Capital Budget – with details of major expenditures.

    • Profit Plan/Budget – monthly income statement projections and comparison-to-actual results.

  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal financial policies; design and implement internal controls to safeguard assets. Liaise with Insurance Providers to secure adequate insurance coverage.

  • Audit Management: Coordinate with external auditors and manage internal audits; prepare audit schedules and provide necessary documentation.

  • Systems Integration & Optimization: Maintain and enhance accounting systems; oversee software integration processes and work with IT to improve data accuracy and reporting capabilities.

  • Team Leadership & Development: Manage and mentor accounting team members, setting clear objectives and providing guidance and feedback; foster a positive and productive work environment.

  • Financial Strategy & Guidance: Provide financial insights to executive leadership; analyze financial data to support strategic decision-making.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with department heads across both companies to align financial goals with operational objectives.

Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.

  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a Controller or senior financial role, with demonstrated team leadership experience.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, FieldServio, or equivalent); experience with software integration and data analytics tools is preferred.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present actionable insights. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.

  • Leadership & Communication: Proven leadership skills, with experience managing, developing, and motivating a team; strong communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration.

  • Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
